On October 25, 2026, the National Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu Demonstration was held at the Chuo City Sports Center in Tokyo, with Katsuyuki Kondo sensei in attendance. We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who attended.
The Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu Headquarters Demonstration Tournament has a long history, now reaching its 66th iteration—a tradition that began during the era of the late Master Tokimune. In recent years, it has been held on the final day of the Katsuura training camp, joined by many students from overseas. As the most significant event for the Daito-ryu headquarters, it will continue to be held as a core headquarters tournament.
Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu comprises a vast repertoire—said to include as many as 11,000 techniques—with the fundamental techniques alone consisting of 118 forms (categorized into *Ikajo* through *Gokajo*, each with *omote* and *ura* variations). Many students expressed a desire to see the full scope of these fundamental techniques. Additionally, there were requests to include demonstrations of *Itto-ryu*—a tradition practiced since the time of the late Master Tokimune. In response to these wishes, we organized this new national-level tournament.
While daily training often focuses primarily on *Ikajo*, many students watched with rapt attention as they encountered *Nikajo*, *Sankajo*, *Yonkajo*, and *Gokajo*—as well as *emono-dori* (techniques for disarming opponents wielding weapons)—for the first time. Some students were visibly stunned upon witnessing the intense sword maneuvers of *Itto-ryu*.
It is our hope that by observing, students will refine their discernment, and by performing, they will strengthen their inner core (*hara*); we trust that this tournament has contributed to the technical advancement of every participant.
Looking ahead, we plan to have local branches host the tournament, rotating it across different regions. We ask for your continued cooperation.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Soumucho sensei for his guidance, and to the members of the executive committee for their hard work in preparing for this event.
